A Crew Boat Captain assigned to work against a dredging vessel engages in the operating and navigating of the boat to and from the shoreline when transporting crew, company personnel, VIP guests, outside vendors and contractors, supplies and materials. He/she will transport crew at the beginning and end of the shift that he/she is assigned to service. He/she may also stop at various other work sites along the way to pick up or drop off crew on various vessels. He/she will make additional runs to the dredge when materials, equipment and supplies are ordered and being delivered, or when he/she is transporting company personnel, inspectors, and guests to the dredge. He/she must execute appropriate judgment when traveling on moderate to heavy seas, and be aware of weather reports that may affect his/her safe transport, as well as exercise his/her navigational skills as a Boat Operator. He/she may encounter rough or rocking seas, or waves that are rolling toward the shore, which requires the Boat Operator need to be attentive and skilled to maintain the safety of the individuals he/she is transporting. He/she may also be assigned to periodically transport the ocean surveying crew to the dredging area where before dredging and after dredging surveys will be conducted according to specifications. May lift, carry, pull or push miscellaneous equipment, supplies and parts weighing up to 50 lbs. Periodically the employee will be required to spend 2-3 days watching safety training videos prudent to their job duties. Other duties may be assigned.
This position is located in Gulf Coast - TX and will last approximately 3-4 months beginning in mid-September.
REQUIREMENTS
- Commitment to work safely and follow all safety policies and procedures
- Required to possess a U.S. Coast Guard License or flag state equivalent
- Position requires the ability to operate and maintain vessel navigation equipment and machinery
- Must have the ability to employ lifesaving procedures on a vessel such as firefighting, first aid, and use of life saving equipment
- Complete a pre-employment physical examination and drug screen
