Great Lakes Dredge & Dock is seeking a Financial Business Systems Analyst to join our team. Working under direct supervision of regional management, this position performs financial analysis in support of project operations. Supports, challenges and enables key business decision insights to drive growth and profitability. Acts as a key partner to estimating, accounting and finance functions. These positions are located in Houston, TX & Jacksonville, FL .
Essential Functions:
- Drive financial analysis of project performance results and key performance indicators to support decision making. Capture root-cause feedback in time to act effectively vs. lagging variances to budget.
- Set and communicate planning guidelines, assumptions and targets. Ensure teams meet all compliance and financial process and deadlines.
- Drive cost control initiatives and recommend simplification processes that will manage cost on regional projects. Manage purchasing decisions to reduce site costs. Seek alternate arrangements considering total cost for activities.
- Improve visibility by presenting real time variable cost data to Project Management e.g. burn rate vs. plan.
- Prepare monthly regional operations report for Executive Leadership.
- Work with estimating, accounting and finance to help update project budgets and ensure project costs are recorded appropriately.
- Manage and record the regional working fund.
- Proactively build relationships across the organization developing an understanding of the business.
- Create variance analysis from initial project estimates.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, accounting, or similar discipline is required
- 2¬ to 4 years of experience as a business analyst in a financial systems environment
- Preferred minimum 5 years of experience combination in finance, accounting, project estimating, and / or business. Strong interpersonal skills and higher order thinking numeracy skills are required.
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability
- Self-starter, willing to learn, and capable of managing multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic, fast paced environment
- Excellent skills in planning and organization as well as verbal and written communication
