The Deck Mate performs specialized work on dredging projects and attendant plant. This position works under the supervision of the Bullgang Deck Captain.
A Mate, assigned to work on a bullgang acts as a working Foreman and oversees the activities of the Deckhands engaged in various activities. This includes the handling of equipment and vessels engaged in various stages of the setting up and breaking down of pipelines and anchors; repairing, servicing and utilization of dredging equipment, or other hoist machines used to lift material; maintenance and repair of cable, and utilizing of various hand and power tools. When drilling, cutting, or torching various materials in the course of fabricating work pieces. He/she becomes the extra pair of hands in most activities and assumes responsibility for the direction and control of each task that he/she is supervising. He/she will participate in training and safety meetings. Other duties as assigned. May lift, carry, pull or push miscellaneous equipment and supplies weighing up to 75 lbs.
This position is located in TX and will begin mid-September for 3-4 moths.
REQUIREMENTS
- Commitment to work safety and follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English Language.
- Complete a pre-employment physical examination and drug screen.
- Transportation to and from jobsite.
