ABOUT THIS PROJECT
Beach renourishment and coastal restoration along Coney Island were performed as part of a larger post-Sandy repair initiative throughout the northeastern U.S. to place more than 26 million cubic yards of sand. In total, 570,000 cubic yards of sand were dredged from the Jamaica Bay Channel and pumped onto Coney Island’s beachfront, returning the shoreline to its initial pre-storm fill profile.
