DREDGING EQUIPMENT
Trailing Suction Hopper Dredges
Trailing Section Hopper Dredges are self-propelled, self-loading dredging ships designed to excavate and load seabed material into a self-contained hopper, through trailing drag arms and pumps for transport to a disposal site. Hopper dredges are best suited for conditions that preclude the use of mechanical clamshell or cutter dredges, notably in busy navigation channels and open ocean borrow areas far from designated placement sites. GLDD’s hopper fleet is certified for coastal or ocean waters and well-suited to work in challenging sea conditions beyond the capacity of other dredging equipment. GLDD employs this versatile fleet on all types of dredging projects, including capital channel improvement, channel and port maintenance, beach nourishment, and coastal restoration works.
