The Internal Audit Department at Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corporation is looking to add a Senior Internal Auditor.  The position is located at the company headquarters in Oak Brook, IL and will report directly to the Manager of Internal Audit.  The Senior Internal Auditor will assist the Manger of Internal Audit in completing a variety of assurance and consulting projects.  The role will develop and evolve along with the business itself, so a flexible approach to the position is required. 
  • Complete and administer all SOX-related testing documentation, including risk control matrices, narratives, process flowcharts, test results, supporting workpapers and other related documentation.  Prepare reporting of results to management, with recommendations for improvements.  Liaison with external audit regarding internal control testing.  Contribute to the overall strategy and execution of the SOX compliance program to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
  • Assist in performing planning activities for operational audits and process reviews to ensure appropriate scope and audit work plans are developed for engagements
  • Assist with the implementation and testing of the Company's enterprise risk management program
  • Produce accurate audit reports that are objective, clear, concise, constructive, and issued in a timely manner, and participate in the assessment of findings in the audit reports
  • Perform other assurance and consulting-related tasks for the company as identified
  • Assist in suggesting the executing Internal Audit strategic initiatives
  • Team with the external audit to assist with financial statement audit procedures
  • Approximately 15% travel, primarily domestic with potential occasional overseas trips
This is a senior position ideal for someone with 3 to 6 years of previous internal or external audit experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required.  Certification (CPA, CIA) preferred
  • Experience in implementing and/or testing SOX controls required
  • Excellent communication skills including interpersonal, verbal and written
  • Construction/manufacturing experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to work within time constraints and limited resources
  • Detail oriented and excellent numerical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Visio required.  Knowledge of ACL, PolicyIQ and AS/400 preferred
